THE NEXT VILLAGE OF LOS RANCHOS MUNICIPAL ELECTION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY,

MARCH 6, 2012



WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO FILE FOR OFFICE?

 

IF INTERESTED IN FILING AS A CANDIDATE YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:

Candidate Filing Day is TUESDAY, JANUARY 10, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is the only day your candidacy to run for office can be filed.

On this day all candidates must file in person at the Village Clerk’s office the following documents required by law for certification of candidacy:

 

1.   A Declaration of Candidacy (form provided by the Village Clerk) and;

 

2.   A certified copy of the candidate's current affidavit of voter registration on file with the Bernalillo County Clerk.  The affidavit must be certified by the Bernalillo County Clerk on a date not earlier than the adoption of the Election Resolution.  The Election Resolution will be adopted on December 7, 2011.

 

3.   All affidavits of voter registration must show the candidate’s current residential address as a street address or rural route number and not as a post office box. 

 

VOTER REGISTRATION

In order to vote in the March 6, 2012 Village Election, you must be registered to vote.  If you are already registered with Bernalillo County at your correct address you do not have to re-register to vote in this election.  If you are not sure if you are registered, please contact the Village Clerk (Annabelle Silvas) at 344-6582 or the Bernalillo County Clerk at 468-1290.  If you have moved into the Village of Los Ranchos or moved to another area in the Village, please change your registration to the correct address. 

The deadline to register to vote for this election  is February 7, 2012.  Please do not wait until the February 7 deadline has passed, as you will be ineligible to vote in the Municipal Election on March 6, 2012.   If you wish to register you may do this in person at  the Village Hall, 6718 Rio Grande Blvd NW or by calling the Bernalillo County Clerk at 468-1290 or Village Clerk 344-6582.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Absentee Voting for the March 6, 2012 Election will begin on January 31, 2012 and will end on March 2, 2012.  Voters wishing to vote by Absentee may request an application by calling the Village Clerk at 344-6582.  The Village Clerk cannot mail the ballot until January 31, 2012.

 

EARLY VOTING

Early voting by machine begins on February 15, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday at 6718 Rio Grande Blvd NW and ends on March 2, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.

VOTER REGISTRATION

If you have moved into the Village, moved just down the street or another area in the village and have not changed your voter registration you may pick up a form at the Village Hall or call 344-6582 and a form will be mailed to you.  You can also call the Bernalillo County Clerk at 468-1290.  If you do not remember where you were last registered you can call 468-1290.

If you have any questions regarding your registration, please call the Bernalillo County Clerk at 468-1290 or visit their web site for frequently asked questions. If you need a voter registration form, please call Annabelle Silvas, the Village Clerk, at 344-6582 or the Bernalillo County Clerk at 468-1290. You may also pick one up at the Village office, during the office hours of  8 A.M-.5 P.M. M-F
